In 1995, thanks to the understanding shown by the authorities of the Zadar district, a valuable collection of over 30.000 negatives belonging to the photographic opus of the master of photography Ante Brkan, which registers life and events in the city of Zadar and its neighboring area from 1958 to 1983, was bought by the Gallery. Since Zadar is the cultural, educational and economic center of the district, the negatives – which record the post-WWII period of reconstruction, its economic, cultural, educational, and sport activities, the emergence of institutions – have an enormous value.
